Exploring Medicine, One Question at a Time
Science is a vast and fascinating world, from the tiniest DNA cells to the complex systems of the human body. Among all of it, I’m especially curious about the domain of medicine. I genuinely enjoy learning about anatomy, human biology, health sciences, and patient care. In hopes of becoming a doctor, I want to learn as much as possible about medicine and healthcare. As a result, I’ve decided to start this blog to publicly record what I’ve learned so that others can access it, ask questions, and learn from it as well. I’m going to be researching different specialties, finding out about new developments in medical technology, and looking at the health system as a whole. This blog is about learning, not just having all the answers!
On that note, my name is Aaliya and I’m in ninth grade! I’ve always liked science, but I’m passionate about human biology more than anything else. I knew I’ve wanted to become a doctor ever since seventh grade, when I took my Bronze Medallion. Along with lifesaving in water, we learned a lot about first-aid and treating someone in life-threatening situations, like when someone is choking or not breathing. This immediately sparked my interest, and I was intrigued. I wanted to be the one to save someone’s life and to help them. So, I learned as much as I could during the course, from basic CPR to treating burns. When it was over, I found myself wanting to know more about treating people and how the human body works. That’s when I started thinking about becoming a doctor, because by becoming one, I could save lives every single day. I would be truly helping people and making a difference, one life at a time.
So, this blog is for me to post my research and what I’ve learned! I’m going to be looking at everything from specific topics, such as certain organs, or general subjects, such as mental health. One idea I’m going to try and follow through on is a “specialty of the month.” Essentially, each month, I’m going to research a specialty, such as neurology, pediatrics, or emergency medicine. I’ll try and cover everything that I can possibly think of for that specialty, from careers within that field to what it’s specifically about. This month, I’m going to be doing cardiology, so I’ll release that post at the end of the month. I might also try and connect some of my other interests to medicine, such as true crime and forensics, to make it more interesting and authentic. If there are any suggestions for topics you would like to know more about, just let me know and I’ll try and look into it!
I don’t have everything figured out yet, but I’m excited for what’s ahead. I can’t wait to dive into all these topics, share what I discover, and maybe spark some curiosity in others too. Here’s to making medicine, science, and all its fascinating parts a little more fun and interesting for anyone who reads this!
I found this very interesting and would love to learn more about your findings ☺️
